Japan's Domestic Steel Product Orders in Sept Increased 8.73%

According to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Association (JISF), steel product orders, including specialty steels, booked by domestic steel consuming sectors in Japan in September this year amounted to 7.47 million metric tons, decreasing by 0.26 percent compared to August and up 8.73 percent year on year.

In September, steel product orders in Japan booked by the domestic construction sector increased by 7.84 percent year on year, amounting to 1.06 million mt, while steel product orders booked by the Japanese automotive sector came to 1.08 million metric tons, increasing by 7.36 percent as compared to the same month last year, both including special steel. Japan's shipbuilding industry booked 309,250 metric tons of steel products in September, down 11.30 percent year on year.
